Maybe someone can help me out. I think this is a Caspian Tern, but don’t ANYONE quote me on that. This guy was sitting on one of the old snags that are visible near Bay Area Park at low tide. Taken on Armand Bayou. The only thing that I am sure of is that it is not an alligator.
It is a Caspian Tern and thanks to Gary and a number of other friends for taking the time to get it right.

This is one of my nemesis birds as I rarely get a shot of them that is close enough to post. I see them off in the distance all of the time, but they never stick around when I approach and are normally off in a flash swimming away under the water. This is the Pied-billed Grebe and the photo was taken on Horsepen Bayou. He was gone in a flash after I got a couple of shots of him/her.

This cormorant stuck around a bit longer than most and allowed me to get a couple of shots before he departed the area. Not always easy for me to get the eyes right. He was perched on a limb overhanging alligator alley.
