Oh my, who would want to play golf here? This is a view from the Plantation House Restaurant overlooking the golf course in Kapalua. It’s such a grand view while having breakfast. Well worth the price of admission and comes with the meal.

I have two different perspectives on Iao Needle and couldn’t figure out which one to post. These have absolutely nothing to do with the windmill, but I hope you take a look.
Commonly called `Iao Needle, the traditional Hawaiian name for the 2,250 foot peak that dominates the valley is Kuka`emoku. This peak is known as the phallic stone of Kanaloa, Hawaiian god of the ocean. (From About.com)
ʻĪao Valley (English: Iao, Hawaiian: ʻĪ-ao: "cloud supreme", pronounced similar to "EE-ow") is a lush, stream-cut valley in West Maui, Hawaii, located 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) west of Wailuku. Because of its natural beauty and historical significance, it has become a popular tourist location. It was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1972.[1] (From Wikipedia)

Was hoping for a somewhat better scene to go with our dinner at Kula Lodge in upcountry Maui, but this one will have to do. Great food and a view to go along with it. Too bad the drive back to the condo was so far.
Kula Lodge is perched on the side of Haleakala Crater and the mountains in the distance are the West Maui Mountains.

I only wish that I had spent more time photographing the altar inside the church, but wanted to be respectful of those that were praying inside. It was only after I sat down for the service that I realized that these were not images, but were sculpted statues. Quite a remarkable altar.

Holy Ghost Catholic Church, also known as Holy Ghost Mission, is an historic octagon-shaped Roman Catholic church building located at 4300 Lower Kula Road in Waiakoa in the Kula district. It was designed by Father James Beissel and built by his parishioners who were Portuguese from the Azores and the Madeira Islands who had come to work on the local sugar plantation. The first mass was celebrated in it in 1895. It was consecrated in 1899 by Bishop Gulstan Ropert, the third vicar apostolic of the Vicariate Apostolic of the Sandwich Islands — now the Roman Catholic Diocese of Honolulu.[2][3]
On April 29, 1983, it was placed on the Hawaii Register of Historic Places and on August 18, 1983,[2][4] it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.[1] It may be the only historic octagonal building in Hawaii.[5]
