This is my first attempt at uploading a movie to Flickr. All of these photos were taken on the same morning and are simply an illustration that taking one shot of a sunrise and then walking away can be a large mistake. The photos were taken over a period of one hour and fifteen minutes. The show only lasted that long before the sky sealed up and rain chased me away from my favorite spot. Hope everyone enjoys the clip.

I need to add that this was a number of still captures that were spliced together using Windows Live Movie Maker.

Quite a number of photos in this sequence and wish I had a better vantage point during the event. I arrived at the bayou very early in the morning, but had to wait for someone to open the gate and was too late for a sunrise capture, but it was pretty much of a monochrome event anyway. I paddled up Armand Bayou for quite a way on this day and managed a few captures, but for the most part it was a pretty lackluster day.

When I arrived back at the park I was loading my equipment and noticed a Green Heron fishing just feet from where I had parked, and so I unpacked the camera and proceeded to wail away on the ol’ shutter for shot after shot on an all too cooperative Greenie. I heard a rustling in the tall grass and much to my surprise a Great Blue Heron had moved very near the little pond and I hoped that he would ignore my presence and join the Greenie and do a little fishing, but he had no interest in doing that at all. He tucked his head back in and moved a little farther away and stepped up on the riprap that was in the area to show himself once again. I noticed that he was panting pretty hard and once again he disappeared into the tall grass. I busied myself with the little Greenie once more who was SO EXTREMELY cooperative.

All of a sudden I heard a commotion going on in the tall grass and much to my surprise the Great Blue came prancing out into the open with THE catch of the day and placed it on the ground. I was so very impressed with the size of the fish and figured there had to be a shot in there somewhere. Not wanting to miss the sequence, I walked behind some tall weeds and was able to get a better vantage point, but could go no closer because there was a lot of open area between me and him. I in no way wanted to press my luck and have him pick up the fish and fly away. I hid behind the weeds and took a number of shots of the action. Some decent and some not so decent, but you’ll get the idea after watching the sequence. Hope everyone enjoys the action.

I couldn’t find much in the way of music to go along with this and didn’t like the silence so this was the best that I could do to accompany the action. Enjoy.
