Finally was able to get a decent in-flight shot of this Great Blue Heron as he departed the branch that he was on. This shot was taken on Armand Bayou just across from Bay Area Park. He launched while I still had my camera in hand and didn’t have to make any adjustments to the canoe. They definitely tell you all the time that they are leaving how displeased they are with your presence.

I know that everyone is going to think that I can capture shots like this on a regular basis, but luck plays a part. I am so much better at capturing them when they are on static display. This Great Blue Heron just happened to offer himself up as he flew by near Bay Area Park on Armand Bayou. I’ll take all of them I can get. I like this shot the best, but didn't like the fencing and other junk in the background.

Spotted this Great Blue Heron watching the water for any movement along the edge of Armand Bayou. Seems like his colors were able to keep nicely masked by his surroundings.
