I sympathize with the intent of the message, but the phrasing gives me pause. As Piketty points out, when the growth rate in the economy is less than the rate of return on investment--as it almost always has been--wealth necessarily concentrates in the hands of capitalists, increasing inequality.
Clearly here, though, the reference is to "Limits to Growth" by the Club of Rome. Economies and cultures based on unlimited increases in resource exploitation are unsustainable, and hence will transition--perhaps via catastrophe--to sustainable cultures that manage renewable resources, or to very much smaller unsustainable cultures that fit within the constraints. Diamond gives many poignant examples in "Collapse". Unfortunately, unsustainable growth often concentrates wealth among bad actors; e.g., coal, oil & lumber companies; monoculture farmers; overfishers, &c. And, as the building says, the innocent & poor bear the pain.

The small white handbill on the post at left says "Douglas Coupland Works Harder Than You". When the picture was taken, the Vancouver Gallery had an excellent Coupland retrospective. Contemporary conceptual art is too often dreary trash, but Coupland delights both the mind and the eye.
