Hatfield, Massachusetts was founded in 1660 on land granted to General Daniel Dennison and Governor William Bradford. The town was formally incorporated in 1670, having previously been a part of neighboring Hadley on the other side of the Connecticut River. A community rich in agricultural history, Hatfield was known as a main source of livestock, corn, and tobacco. The Town’s history includes roles in King Phillip’s War in 1675, the American Revolution, and Shays’ Rebellion in 1786.
