The Hart Plaza Fountain is more formally known as the Horace E. Dodge and Son Memorial Fountain.

The fountain was designed by Isamu Noguchi in 1978 and built in 1981 after a $1m grant by the Dodge family in memory of the patriarch and eldest son.

I decided to make some more images of objects splashing in a fish tank. Instead of using fruits and veggies this time, I decided it might be more fun to take some of my son's bath toys and add some colorful backgrounds. Everyone loves Elmo, right?

If you decide to do something like this, it's a lot of fun. Just be sure to save the fruit until last or you'll be cloning out "floaties" all afternoon.

Clint has a nice tutorial (below) that helped me get started. Be sure to check it out. If you're not into kids toys or fruit cans of pop / beer look nice - red bell peppers or strawberries on black seemed to stand out the most. More splash images can be found here.

Special thanks to Clint Decker and his video showing the basics. I didn't follow it exactly, but it got me going. He's got an awesome flickr stream - check it out here: flickr

The main gallery of the Iowa State Capitol Complex is quite impressive. There are a number of vaulted ceilings with some very interesting art pieces. A very large scale model of the USS Iowa Battleship is just behind the plaque in the middle of the image.

You can just make out the Secretary of State office's door on the left edge of the picture. The other major offices are up and down the hallways to the left and right of the frame.

Shot with a Canon 7d and 15-85 lens. This image was made of 3 rows of 5 landscape oriented images stitched together in Photoshop.

One of the most popular and iconic places to visit in NOLA is St. Louis Cathedral. It's located on the edge of the French Quarter not far from the Mississippi River.

"The Cathedral-Basilica of St. Louis King of France is the oldest Catholic cathedral in continual use in the United States. Despite its age, it is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever been to. It's free to get in, but they accept donations to help with their restoration effort. There is a great deal to see both inside and out, and all of it is immaculate. There is a great written history of the church at their website here.

When I was there, I didn't get to hear the organ play but I hear it is amazing. There is a music schedule and a schedule of masses on their website here: here and here.

I loved walking in the nearbby park called Jackson Square - or Place d'Armes. There is a great street scene in this area including palm readers, street vendors and artists. If you are in town for vacation or even a business convention like I was, this is a great place to relax. One final tip - the legendary "Cafe du Monde" is only about a block away. This is an excellent place to take a break and have a cup of coffee and a beignet after your tour.

A cold November morning duck hunting in East Penobscot Bay, Maine. Three of us were in a boat waiting for the ducks to come in. I couldn't resist breaking the cardinal rule and setting my shotgun while the decoys were out. I grabbed my camera and start "shooting" away. Our guide was miffed, but since no ducks came in for an hour I didn't feel bad.

This was taken with a Canon 7d, and a 15-85 hand held. I used Nik HDR Efx to edit the shot.
