The second Platonic dialogue concerning the nature of Love, the "Phaedrus" speaks of attaining the highest reaches of "the beyond' by becoming enraptured, first, with visible form. Such moments lift the soul up and bring it closer to its purer and more perfect nature - the original goal of philosophy, or, the 'love of truth'. There was much here, in this very fleeting moment, before the sunlight nipped behind shadowing buildings, that caused my heart to well with love.
