Koh Mak is a large island located between Koh Chang and Koh Kood Most of its plains area is coconut plantations. The whole area of this island covers 16 sq.km with a round distance of 27 km. Long coconut beaches and crystal clear sea are the splendid attractions of the island. A natural, tropical island, Thailand's preserved treasure, is an ideal destination for visitors who enjoy a tranquil environment unspoiled by mass tourism. Amongst 10,000 palm trees, there’s a temple, three fishing community villages, rubber plantations, and still uninhabited beaches like this unspoiled Aow Pra beach above. I found several hermit crabs running here at the beach. The hermit crab is a type of crab that doesn't have a very hard shell. Not a true crab, it uses other animals' old shells for protection; they especially like old whelk shells. As the hermit crab grows in size, it must find a larger shell. Koh Mak is the perfect place to relax, explore, calm your mind and smoothe your senses. Koh Mak Island, where less is more.
Koh Mak is a little island perfect to explore and getting close to nature, bicycle through coconut plantations along the coastline full of thousand coconut palm trees. Even during raining season a great place to be. Temperature of 32 degrees Celcius. (90 ºF). Once a day a speedboat brings visitors to the island. About 10 tourist a day will visit the island during raining season. Many resort are also closed. You will get that Robinson Crusoe feeling when you explore uninhabited beaches of this pretty island. Koh Mak is een redelijk groot eiland dat ligt tussen Koh Chang en Koh Kood maar dan veel rustiger dan eilanden als Phuket, Ko Samui en ook Ko Chang. Je komt hier om te relaxen in je hangmat en van de stralende zee te genieten. Je kunt prima snorkelen bij koralen en languit liggen op helderwitte stranden. Koh Mak ligt met amper 2.000 bewoners in de beschermde Koh Chang Marine Park archipelago in de provincie Trat. Het is het derde grootste eiland van de provincie met een oppervlakte van amper 16 km². Koh Mak heeft een omtrek van 27 kilometer. De archipel telt 52 eilanden die verspreid liggen over een oppervlakte van 650 km². Het eiland kan je het best ontdekken per voet, fiets of kano. Er zijn nog ongerepte stranden op tropische eiland Koh Mak waar je zeker een Robinson Crusoe gevoel krijgt. Een strand waar niet elke schelp een schelp schijnt te zijn. De heremietkreeft is bekend door het gebruik van een lege schelp, meestal een slakkenhuis, als bescherming voor het weke achterlijf. The last days we spend on the tropical island Koh Mak in Thailand near the border of Cambodia. Laying and relaxing on the beach where not every shell seems be a shell. Like in this video. De laatste dagen lekker relaxen op het tropische eiland Koh Mak in Thailand waar niet elke schelp een schelp schijnt te zijn. De heremietkreeft is bekend door het gebruik van een lege schelp, meestal een slakkenhuis, als bescherming voor het weke achterlijf. Bekijk m'n eigen video. The Black Bittern is a heron, dark grey to black in colour breeding in tropical Asia. The adult is uniformly black above, with yellow neck sides. Bitterns are a classification of wading birds in the heron family Ardeidae. Species named bitterns tend to be the shorter-necked, often more secretive members of this family. Black bittern occupies terrestrial and estuarine wetlands, where permanent water is present and the vegetation is dense. It may be seen in flooded grassland, forest, woodland, rainforest and mangroves also. The Black Bittern feeds by day but especially prefers the time around sunset. It roosts communally at night, and coastal flocks roost at high tide. The primary food of the Black Bittern is small fish, but it will also eat aquatic insects, crustaceans and amphibians. Their digestive acids are so strong that bones that are consumed simply dissolve in their stomachs. The Black bittern bird is a threatened species.
The rainy season in Thailand is from May till November. During this season you can get some of those torrential rains like photo above that last 30 minutes to 2 hours. Dark clouds gathering above island Koh Wai nearby Koh Mak . A Black Bittern is usually more active around sunset and just passing my lens while I was shooting the colored sea and torrential clouds.
De Zwarte Roerdomp is een van de kleinere leden van de reigerfamilie en komt voor in tropisch Azie. De Zwarte Roerdomp heeft een kortere nek dan onze reigers. De Zwarte Roerdomp is door het afnemen van moerasgebieden een bedreigde vogelsoort. Ze komen voor in dichte moerassige gebieden waar veel water is. De Zwarte Roerdomp zit overdag meestal ineengedoken in een boom en is voornamelijk in de schemering en 's nachts actief. Ze leven voornamelijk van vis, insecten en kikkers. Hun spijsverteringszuren zijn zo sterk dat de beenderen eenvoudig in de maag verteren.

Both islands Ko Kham and Ko Phi can be easily reached with sea kayak from the resorts on north west coast of Ko Mak. Als het eb is kun je lopen naar het nabijgelegen eilandje Ko Kham met zijn mooie koraalriffen en kokospalmen. Er is ook een mogelijkheid een kano te huren en met rustige zee naar de eilandjes in de buurt te canoën. Koh Mak ligt met amper 2.000 bewoners in de beschermde Koh Chang Marine Park archipelago in de provincie Trat. Het is het derde grootste eiland van de provincie met een oppervlakte van amper 16 km². Koh Mak heeft een omtrek van 27 kilometer. De archipel telt 52 eilanden die verspreid liggen over een oppervlakte van 650 km². Bij lage tij kan men wandelen naar het Kleinere eiland Koh Kham, dat één kilometer verder noordwestelijk ligt. Het nabije Ko Phi is niet bewoond. Noordelijk gedijt Ko Wai, dat befaamd is voor zijn koralen, terwijl Koh Kradet ongerepte stranden biedt. Koh Mak is een zeer vlak eiland waar de lokale bewoners vooral actief zijn in de landbouw. De belangrijkste inkomsten worden verworven door de rubberboomplantages en de kokospalmen.

Koh Mak island a holiday destination that offers calmness and peaceful atmosphere. One of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand. Here the sea is blue and clear and the white sandy Khao beach stretches for 7km. The beach slopes gently into the sea ensuring that swimming form the shore is safe. A short boat ride away to the nearby islands you can find coral reefs which are ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving. Koh Mak where you can enjoy your dream vacation in a cosy atmosphere. Koh Mak is a medium island where nature, adventure, and convenience come together with untouched nature. The little island Rayang Nai in the above photo can be now be reached on foot since it's low tide.

Je komt hier om te relaxen in je hangmat en van de stralende zee te genieten. Je kunt prima languit liggen op helderwitte stranden. Er wonen maar weinig mensen. Voor snorkelen of duiken is dit een mooie plek want het eiland heeft een mooi rif. Als het eb is kun je lopen naar het nabijgelegen eilandje Ko Kham met zijn mooie koraalriffen en kokospalmen. Er is ook een mogelijkheid een kano te huren en met rustige zee naar de eilandjes in de buurt te canoën. Er zijn nog ongerepte stranden op tropische eiland Koh Mak waar je zeker een Robinson Crusoe gevoel krijgt. Haad Khao is een prachtig en rustig 7 km lang zandstrand. Het strand wordt hierboven onderbroken door de monding van een klein riviertje. De baai heeft twee kleine eilanden. Bij laagtij kan men wandelen naar het onbewoonde eiland hier links Koh Rayang Nai.
