From Passau - Germany we drove to Austria. Do you wonder why it's always so green in Austria? Cause it rains now and than, not always good weather in these region of the Alps. We arrived at the Traunsee. Lake Traun is the deepest of the lakes in the Salzkammergut at 191 meters. In summertime the area is the perfect location for a lakes and mountains holiday. But no swimming today, so we visited Schloss Ort, a tiny castle on a miniature island in the Traunsee. Cross the bridge onto the island and wander around the picturesque castle whose courtyard is surrounded by arcaded balconies. One side of the courtyard leads to a pretty little chapel. Lake Castle Orth The palace is named after the Ort family -- powerful people in this region in the 11th and 12th centuries. When their power waned, the kingdom began changing hands frequently. More often than not, it was bought or sold, but occasionally gained new owners through death or marriage. Today, young couple flock to the island for wedding ceremonies, but are probably unaware of the most famous marriage that happened here. In 1890, Archduke Johann Nepumuk Salvator married Milli Stubel, right after renouncing his position in the Habsburg empire and changing his name to Johann Orth -- after this castle.
Schloss Ort is a castle located on a little island at the Traunsee near Gmunden in Upper Austria. Gmunden offers a beautiful walk along the lake. The view to the lake and mountain behind it are absolutely breathaking.
Van Passau-Duitsland zijn we naar Traunsee-Oostenrijk gereden. Nu weten we waarom het altijd zo groen eruit ziet in Oostenrijk. Het regent in het Alpengebied er zo nu en dan. De Traunsee is echt een aanrader. Omgeven door een fascinerende fraaie bergwereld werd de Traunsee al door de Romeinen het blije meer genoemd, lacus felix. En dat niet voor niets, want het meer en zijn omgeving zijn adembenemend fraai. Het berglandschap oogt als een fjord. Misschien wel een van de meest mooie meren van Oostenrijk! De Traunsee is het meest diepe meer in Oostenrijk en geldt dankzij zijn ideale windomstandigheden als het meer onder de zeilers. Elk jaar vinden daarom hier talrijke regatta's plaats. Ook andere watersporten als zwemmen, duiken, surfen, kiten, waterskiën en wakeboarden zorgen voor veel pret. Met dit weer bezoeken wij Schloss Orth te bereiken via een houten brug. Het kasteel is in 1080 opgericht door Hartnidus of Ort en kent vele eigenaren. In de jaren 1873-1875 in de stijl van de Renaissance gebouwd. Het kasteel waaraan een mooie liefdesgeschiedenis is verbonden wordt heden gebruikt voor het vieren van bruiloften.

Schönblick Mountain Resort & Spa is located in the market town of Rauris in the Salzburg municipality of Austria, and within the Pinzgau area. It is located less than 1 hour from Salzburg by car. We zijn aangekomen in ons luxe appartement Schönblick Mountain-Resort in Rauris - Oostenrijk. Aan de overkant een Wellness gebouw met overdekt zwembad, sauna, whirlpool, fitness evenals een bar. Een prachtige ligging zowel in de winter als de zomer in Oostenrijk. We zitten hier aan de rand van Rauris en we hebben vanaf ons dakterras een heerlijk uitzicht op de omliggende bergwereld. De cabinebaan Hochalmbahn Rauris is op 300 meter. Op minder dan 100 meter is een langlaufloipe. Deze fijne vakantiewoningen zijn op 950 meter hoogte gelegen. Een gezond bergklimaat is dus gegarandeerd. We kunnen hier heerlijk wandelen in het nabijgelegen National park Hohe Tauern. Eén van de grootste natuurgebieden van Europa. Het park kent vele hoogtepunten zoals de hoogste berg van Oostenrijk: de Grossglockner 3789 m, de langste gletsjer van de Oostalpen: de Pasterzengletsjer en de hoogste watervallen van Europa: de Krimmler watervallen. Hohe Tauern heeft alle ingrediënten voor een geslaagde actieve vakantie in Oostenrijk middenin de natuur.

The network of cycle paths in the Rauris Valley offers the right experience. Who pedals its way through Rauris can expect pure nature! Rauris is in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park, the biggest nature reserve of the Alps. Cycling in Rauris is about enjoying the genuine alpine landscape on very well marked bike paths through the mountains. We cycle the bike tour Rauris - Kolm Saigurn. This spectacular Mountainbike tour starts in Rauris and leads to Kolm Saigurn. This forest is situated at the end of the valley, in the heart of national park Hohe Tauern at 1600 meters height and offers an impressive panorama at the surrounding glaciers. The tour runs through the Rauriser valley in a beautiful alpine environment. This medium difficulty cycling tour leads over asphalt and gravel to an unspoilt valley full of flowers and alpine herbs.

We bike from Rauris to Kolm Saigurn over gravel to an unspoilt valley and passing the Ritterkopf mountain of 3006 meter - Austria. A tour of 700 meter height difference to overcome at highest point: 1650 meter, lowest point: 950 meter. Ascending: 70%, descending: 30%. maximum ascent gradient: 17%.

Goed aangelegde fiets- en mountainbikepaden in elke moeilijkheids-graad maken de Rauris tot een van de aantrekkelijkste fietsregios van Oostenrijk! Fietsen in de prachtige bergen is voor BieJee en Samantha een nieuwe belevenis. Ze voelen zich snel thuis op hun mountainbike. De talrijke mountainbike wegen zijn absolute top, adrenaline en grandiose uitzichten gegarandeerd. Onze spectaculaire Mountainbike tour begint in Rauris en voert naar Kolm Saigurn. Dit woud ligt aan het uiterste einde van het Rauriser dal, in het hart van nationaalpark Hohe Tauern op 1600 meter hoogte en biedt geweldige uitzichten op de omliggende gletsjers. Een middelzwaar parcours over 700 meter hoogte verschil met het hoogste punt: 1650 meter, diepste punt: 950 meter, klimmen: 70 %, afdalen: 30% van de route. Max. steiging: 17%. De tocht loopt door het Rauriser dal in een heerlijke alpine omgeving. We fietsen hierboven op een bosbad langs de Ritterkopf berg van 3006 meter hoog.
