This is a 130 degree (and an hour and ten minute!) sweep from right to left. I started with the sunset and then lengthened the exposures at each subsequent position. I made two exposures at each position for HDR purposes. By the time I was into the middle part of the image, I was chasing a distant thunderstorm that, by then, was providing much of the illumination. But I was a bit behind the action and only managed to catch one lightning bolt. It just happened to be directly behind the farm buildings, which also happened to have some farm machinery active in the yard, making it look as though there was a direct hit on the farm! In reality though, the bolt was many miles to the south.
Anyone interested in joining a new group: 'HDR panoramas of sunsets and lightning'? ;- )

Definitely, one of my favourite subjects on the river, but not an easy one to photograph. On this occasion, I was thigh-deep in search of the ideal perspective, when a mink showed up. It found a clam and proceeded to chew on it for several minutes, allowing its image to register despite a time exposure of several seconds.

Low rainfall in the preceding months had reduced the flow in the Conestoga to very low levels by October 2012.

Sugar maples are the dominant tree in most forests in these parts, but the river-eye perspective is often dominated by the grey of willows. Finding colourful reflections is not as easy as it might seem!

Always on the hunt for something different, I decided to tackle the almost impossible dynamic range of this unassuming scene. In the end, it seems to work best as a near-silhouette.
