寄蜉蝣于天地,渺沧海之一粟。
From an ancient Chinese poem written in 1082, which translates into:
To sympathize the fleetingness of a mayfly between heaven and earth,
and to compare a speck of grain against the vastness of ocean.
This photo was taken at Mont Saint-Michel, where river Sélune joins the sea. On low tide, the tidal flats stretches several kilometers between land and sea.
From the height of the hill, I saw a group of people walking on the flats. They were tiny and negligible comparing with the shadows casted by clouds and the vastness of space.
I thought of this poem, touched by the same feeling of vanity after 1000 years.
