The fourth Exposition internationale de l'automobile, du cycle et des sports at Paris was held from 10 till 25 December 1901 in the Grand Palais at Paris.
One of the attractions to see was the Deutsch-Tatin dirigible hanging from the ceiling of the Grand Palais. In the language of the day it was named a Ballon automobile a term which quickly disappeared.
The dirigible named La Ville de Paris was constructed along the plans of early French aviation pioneer Victor Tatin and was financed by the very wealthy Henry Deutsch de la Meurthe.
The dirigible was not filled with gas here but just pumped up with air and hung from the ceiling. At the time of the exposition the machine had not flown and as will be seen it would never fly. To distinguish this 'Ville de Paris'from the later (1907) dirigible with the same, I would name it Deutsch-Tatin Ville de Paris.

This picture shows the fourth Exposition Internationale de locomotion aérienne in the Grand Palais which was held from 26 October to 10 November 1912. Actually it shows the building of the stands before the opening. Everywhere there are trucks or horse drawn carts bringing in parts of planes or the exposition stand. Not much was finished and ready for the public when this picture was taken.
Center front is a pusher design of ther Société des Appareils d'Aviation Doutre which was actually a Maurice Farman fitted with an automatic stabilizer invented by Doutre.
To the left is the stand of the Chantiers d'Artois. The only machine which is assembled at the moment is the d'Artois Aéro-Torpille {Aerial Torpedo] biplane with a pusher propeller behind the tail. The engine, a Gnôme rotary rated at 50 hp, was mounted in the middle of the fuselage. The engine drove the tail propeller with a long shaft.
Other stands can be seen of Nieuport, Blériot,Morane-Saulnier and Clément Bayard.

A view of the Henry Farman stand at the second Exposition Internationale de locomotion aérienne held in the Grand Palais at Paris from 15 October till 3 Novembert 1910.
Shown here is the classic Henry Farman pusher biplane with elevator in front and rudder at the back. The pilot sat just before the edge of the lower wing, fully in the open, on a very light open construction, which made it possible to look directly down when flying.
Only the courageous would have the urge to pilot this plane. A characteristic of this version is the extra long top wing fitted with an outsize aileron. This version was probably aimed to perform distance competitions, town to town, whcih were often run pre-WW1. The design was quickly antiquated given the quick devlopment of aeroplanes before the war, in 1910 / 1911 it probably already lost on speed when comparing to the latest monoplanes like the Nieuport and the Deperdussin.
A nice detail is the small double wheel fitted to the skids with the intention to prevent nosing over.
The boards can just be read in this picture. The first one gives details of distance flights flown with an Henry Farman.

The photographer has moved his position somewhat, probably to view the rows of French military standing at the side of the corridor. Likely this picture was taken during the opening of the fifth Exposition Internationale de Locomotion Aérienne on 5 December 1913.
Due to the different position of the photographer there is a better view of the Deperdussin stand. The small monoplane racer in front is the Monocoque used by André Prévost when he won the Gordon Bennett race in September 1913.
