A shaggy dog tale still attracts crowds to pat park’s pooch.

Last summer, film crews arrived in Todmorden after hearing rumours about a lucky dog statue in Centre Vale Park.

Psychological illusionist Derren Brown visited the town to film a show for his TV series before later revealing that he had planted the rumour as part of an experiment about luck.

Several months later, tourists are still flocking to pat the lucky dog’s head. There has been so much demand that Calderdale Council has installed a stepping stone path to the statue and erected signposts in the park to enable easier access to the famous pooch.
