Locomotives Braunton and Nunney Castle, double-head through Marazion Marshes on their way back to London after their weekend in Penzance. Both engines are required to pull the classic train up the long Cornish main line gradients. A superb sight not seen too often in Penzance as most steam hauled trains entering Cornwall turn at Par, near St. Austell.

The arrival of classic steam locomotives, Braunton and Nunney Castle, into Penzance for the weekend caused much excitement. When a train arrives late in the evening into Penzance it's usual to see three folk get off, certainly not the few hundred that climbed off this steam train.

Royal Scot has been visiting the Severn Valley Railway for this weekends Autumn Steam Gala. Here is an early morning shot of the locomotive looming out of the mist as it runs along the River Severn between Arley and Bewdley.

The engine is a 1947, Bulleid designed, Battle of Britain Class, named Sir Keith Park. This image was taken on the Severn Valley Railway at Kidderminster station during the 'Santa Specials' runs.
I took the image as I really did like the way the locomotive's firebox was lighting up the scene.
ISO 12800 at f2.8 giving me 1/25th second, on a dark evening, hand held and with a lens that has no image stabilisation built in....and it's reasonably sharp, now that was a surprise!

The Royal Scot appears out of the mist on the Severn Valley Railway heading down line towards Bewdley and Kidderminster. I took this shot last autumn and have posted it as a consolation for not going out tomorrow to photograph the Flying Scotsman on it's inaugural run from London, Kings Cross to York.
