My BlenderCam evolved from my pinhole blender cameras, in which an image is formed on 35mm film which is held in a curved path, such that the effective focal length of the pinhole “lens” gets longer, and the effective aperture gets smaller the further away it is from the centre. By advancing the film to include an overlap, sequential images become blended together. I made the body of BlenderCam at an introductory laser cutting workshop at Access Space, Sheffield. By using a lens and shutter assembly scavenged from an old Bierette camera, I was able to make a blender camera which could be used for hand held exposures, so allowing moving subjects to be captured.

This photo was taken before the final assembly, which also involved painting the interior of the camera matt black.
