A baby Sloth Bear Cub hitches a ride on its mothers back as she wanders through the forests of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve in Central India.Unfortunately she was the shy type and showed us a clean pair of heels as she disappeared into the thick undergrowth as soon as I took this image.

After a full day checking between 2 different den sites and sacrificing some iconic sunset images we were heading back to camp defeated when we finally found what we had been searching for sitting on the track...Striped Hyena! Shot at 1/6th of a second handheld @ ISO 5000. We hit the post a couple of times so I was very pleased to finally see 1 of these animals nevermind get a useable photograph! However if we had known what lay ahead on our trip ........

My 3 week visit to India culminated in a 9 day stay at Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve to try and photograph Sloth Bear,Leopard,Wild Dogs and of course Tigers! I`m glad to report we had success with all of the main target species aswell as scoring a few more along the way.This however was our first proper Tiger sighting of the trip,on our 4th drive in the southern Buffer Zones of Dewada and Argarzari which aren`t as densely populated but also has less jeeps on the tracks meaning any sighting is likely to be more initmate.However we shared our first sighting with a few other jeeps after Sambar Deer alarm calls had alerted everybody to the same area and low and behold "W" a 3 year old Tigress appeared from the dense undergrowth to show her face as she crossed 1 of the tracks in Dewada,a breathtaking moment for sure!

Another shot I managed to take in the village as we walked to make our way down to the Chambal River for our River Safari with the 500mm,capturing what to me was a real eye opener of the reality of Indias have nots.This young child caring for her sibling while standing barefoot in the street and but a child herself.

A young Indian girl in a village close to the Chambal River in Uttar Pradesh proudly stands in the street with the biggest smile and happy face as she shows of her "Kid" to other members of the tour group I was with,I sneaked this image from a distance with my 500mm to capture the moment as she holds the oversized comb while using it on her Goat.
