After 2 previous trips to the area I finally made my first Burro sightings as I commuted from Ridgecrest through the Panamint Valley.These Wild Donkeys can be found throughout the Death Valley National Park however their future is uncertain with the National Park service signing a contract for all the Wild Donkeys to be round up and removed from the park with the next 5 years.Reasoning for the removal in these are a non native species to the park,There are estimated to be some 2500 Burros in the park. This young Burro stands with its mother not far out of shot on a late evening in the Panamint Valley.

Driving back from a very early morning sunrise shoot near Mammoth I began the drive back down towards Lone Pine when I started to see lots of fall colours appearing with fantastic mountain scenes so I pulled over just north of the town of Bishop at Round Valley to capture this scene looking towards Mountain Tom aswell as Basin Mountain and Mt Emerson.

I knew I didn`t have long to get to a spot to set up and capture some of the stunning colours which were beginning to develop in the sky above me as I began my drive along the Panamint Valley road so I found a nice stretch of road and decided to pull over and set up the tripod to capture the sunset the best I could,looking south through the Panamint Valley with the Argus Mountain Range just visible on the righthand side of the image.

After a long day spent in the Panamint Valley I decided to take the slightly longer drive back to Ridgecrest by taking the 190 towards Lone Pine before turning down the CA395,my goal being to hopefully capture some action with the impending sunset which in previous evenings had produced some stunning Candy Floss skies,this was the scene that greeted me as I came down from the plateaus of Death Valley National Park towards Owens Lake,with gorgeous skies hanging over the Inyo Mountain Ranges which lie along the eastern side of Owens Lake.

Have seen this hotel sign on every trip I have made to this part of California and decided to make a conscious effort to stop and photograph it this time around! Just love the lightning on this sign on CA395 just south of Owens Lake at Olancha.
