This is not just any Chinese Canadian Café. This Café once belonged to my grandfather. He opened it up in the small town of Torquay Saskatchewan just a few years before he died. He even helped a nice Chinese family over so that they could run the place for him. Back in the forties fifties and even sixties, small towns in Saskatchewan were bustling places, each with their own store, butcher, post office and café. I think my grand dad wanted to bring some of that back when he opened this up many decades later. The general store is closed now but the Café is still in operation! It is on its third owner now. (A very nice fellow whose name I believe is Zhou Jian.) Anyhow, my pilgrimage done, I highly recommend you take a road trip to the most southern tip of Saskatchewan and eat a nice Chinese Canadian meal at the Torquay café. The fries are excellent (I can attest).
