We stopped for a few minutes to just listen to nature. That's when I noticed the big horn sheep (on the left in the distance). Oh and there is an awfully cute marmot who hangs out about 1/2 way up the ridge.

We got up fairly early and did a side hike to Ribbon falls. That required some scrambling but the most dangerous areas are chained so it's easier than a straight scramble. When we got back to the campsite, we were the only back packers left around Ribbon Lake.

we did a little back country camping this weekend. This was how our camping spot looked as we arrived on Saturday.
From Buller creek parking lot to Ribbon Lake - Total km return (about 20 km) elevation gained (and lost and gained and lost again) over 671. We also hiked down to Ribbon Falls on Sunday before heading out. Adding another 4 or 5 km on the day. We didn't carry our heavy packs on that hike though!
