Beachy Head near Eastbourne is a dramatic and beautiful headland extending 535 feet above sea level. But this area of natural beauty has a darker side. Beachy Head is a well known 'suicide spot'.

Eastbourne Pier opened in June 1870 during Queen Victoria's reign. Above shot was taken on Christmas Day 2013. Six months later, in June 2014, a huge fire destroyed the central section.

I took this shot seven months ago. Right of centre [see image notation] is the structure that was totally destroyed by fire just a few days ago.
