Above the main entrance to what is now a Mecca Bingo Hall but was originally the beautiful 'Garrick Theatre' on Southport's tree lined Lord Street.
Thankfully, the amazing Art Deco period exterior and interior remain. You can learn and see much more of this beautiful building (a Southport Hidden Gem) by clicking the link below. And, believe me, you'll be a dope if you don't.

On 1st September 1884, Southport & Cheshire Lines Extension Railway's (SCLER) northern terminus @ Lord Street, Southport was opened. The line ran from Aintree Central in the northern suburbs of Liverpool.
The new line provided passengers with an alternative through route to Liverpool city centre, to that run by the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway (Southport Chapel Street - Liverpool Exchange). It also provided and alternative route from Southport to Manchester.
This shot of said station's clock tower was taken today -- exactly 133 years and one day after the station's opening.
