So I've finally ordered an 11m carp pole for use in Pole Aerial Photography : An 11 meters Ron Thompson “Gangster”. Thanks to Dave Mitchell from UK who accepted to take delivery and forward it to me in Tahiti (final cost including the pole and delivery was 121 £ -134€ - $193).

Of course I needed to find a simple and easy way to attach a camera (a Ricoh GX 200 that I will use with the Interval mode) and the Flickr PAP group is full of ressources. I went for a “design” inspired by Peter Bults. I am not using the last 2 sections of the pole are they are too flexible to support the weight of the camera, so I cut a 10 cm piece of the bottom of the section before the last, forced it in a PVCpipe, this 10cm piece covers to top of the last usable section and gives a double thickness of carbon which I think should support the stress of the weight. (I doubt I will fix a DSLR though).

Very easy to use, very light and quick to set up, no fancy electronics and complex rig at the top it 's AutoPAP at its best combined with a Ricoh GX 200 and its intervalometer, it is ideal for Archaeology Aerial Photography
