This is a bracketed HDR further processed by Pixel Bender to create Paintography. Learning how to do this. I will crop off a bit ot the right side and start over to mask in the sky from one of the exposures after Pixel Bender oil paint rendering to eliminate horizon lightness and drive down processing noise. It takes a bit of work to figure out the work flow so that things "come out right".

The Grumman Avenger first saw service in 1942 at the Battle of Midway. Can you imagine flying straight at a Japanese aircraft carrier with a big torpedo in your belly while the target and all of the escort ships were shooting at you and the defending aircraft were chewing you to pieces from all angles? Mostly a sitting duck but they did admirable service through the war. This one was seen at the Chino Air Show this year. Nice. Very historic. Brings tears to the eyes.

For several years a gentleman did a marvelous job decorated his house in Fullerton, California. The story goes that he had worked for Disney for many years and did the elaborate decorations each year as his major hobby. The angel was less than 1% of his holiday show. I think the year I took this shot was the last year the place was decorated. The image was taken two years ago when my D-700 was new and I was busily taking high-ISO, low-light images.

May you have happy holidays and a wonderful new year.
