Today we are celebrating my friend Ewa, better known as evaxebra on flickr and instagram. She is an OG 365er. One of the few left. Today marks the first day of her thirteenth year of doing daily selfies. Think about that 13. A decade and three years.

But there's more. Ewa is a physician. She did her 365 through medical school and opening her practice. She did her 365 through her marriage to Ryan, which is still going stronger than ever. Through her first pregnancy. As she approached the birth of her first child, she wavered. publicly considering stopping. I told her she couldn't. I challenged her to do an additional 365 for her daughter Luna too.

So she began the journey of dual daily portraits. Sometimes combined, but a photo for her and a photo for Luna each day. And a burgeoning medical practice.

Then she became pregnant again. The solution was simple. When her son was born, it became three images each day. Sometimes combined, but always a photo of her, Luna and Ash. Each day. No cheating.

And good photographs. A high standard. Photos to make you laugh, think and marvel. Photos that inspire. A commitment to inspire. A life to inspire. Not an instagram life, a real life. She is a force. A phenom. Indomitable. Irrepressible. Irascible.

So as you consider halting your daily self portrait regimen, if you are even doing one, think of her. Let her inspire you. And if you are finding excuses for not doing one at all, let her show you there are no excuses. Only the joy of doing it.

Ewa, I am humbled. I do not stop because you do not stop. The show must go on.
