Great Uncle Horatio Trent Peg was a cultural anthropologist , a naturalist and amatuer photographer who traveled to the Amazon Rain Forest to photograph the Mundurukú, as well as the Arctic to photograph the great auk.
In the frozen North his emulsion was to slow to capture the wandering auks as anything other than a blur. After briefly using using dead auks propped on sticks, Horatio developed a new high speed emulsion made from pureed auks and seal blood among other components.
His activities attracted the interest of the local polar bear population which he unfortunately mistook as an indigenous tribe of Abominable Snowmen. Horatio Trent Peg's last journal entry reads "They seem quite friendly and curious, these snowmen. I endeavor to meet them and shake their hands, and to facilitate that I have left an offering of plump baby seals outside my tent." Many of Horatio Trent Peg's images have been lost, but one that remains is an abstract impressionist rendition of what seems to be dental records and great swirls of texture.
