Ever want to change something about The Rogue Players or Flickr Group Roulette? Well the time is right to get in on the ground floor of the new mutation of a beloved pair of groups. FGR and TRP were started as frolicking, inspirational groups for those doing a 365 project. Now, like a vagabond circus troupe, the members are closing down the old tent, pulling up stakes and traveling to a new place. From the new group, they will continue to frolick and generate good natured mayhem and madness about flickrland. We will do a 30 day tribute period to our dearly departed playpens, and then after a head of steam is collected, we will begin the game again in earnest.

Doing a 365 and in need of inspiration? Just want to have fun on flickr? Never heard of Flickr Group Roulette or The Rogue Players? Well you missed out then, so don't miss out again. Join.

Whoever thought that Flickr Group Roulette would never die was wrong. Today is the final act of one of flickr's most intoxicating, invigorating and hell raising groups. It is truely sad that the membership fell off, and that the decision was made to drop the curtain.

As though the Titanic were scuttled, fuggers find themselves adrift in the dark icy seas of flickrland.

Fare thee well FGR. May the fugger ethos live on. (cue sad celtic bagpipes)

Actually it might. There's a lifeboat out there. Over there. On the horizon. They're shouting.... waving...... saying "We're Here!"

I was so honored by cynthiak's copy of my rather mundane Facedown Tuesday pictures, that I had to go out and do a copy of one of her classics. I love Cynthia's work. She's fearless. She rocks. Actually, this is not the first time I was inspired by Cyn's work. There was this image a few months back.

This time though, I got to copy Cynthia's copy of Matt's image, taken when he traveled to Chicago and visited The Bean. Sadly, I didn'y get to visit Cynthia to get my image. I used an old anti-shoplifting mirror I found in the back of the studio.

I tried to post a perfectly nice portrait and, of course, some jerk had to vandalize it. Sorry, but it's the only photo I took today so I had to post it.

A copy of my esteemed colleague Ewa's vandalized photograph. (I wonder if it was scribbled on by the same cretin....)

My Nikon F, F2 and Nikkormat all sported nifty fifties. Ten years ago, I never would have thought I would become dependent on that newfangled auto focus technology. When I moved into the digital age, I became spoiled on auto focus and eventually bought a 50mm AF-D. My D200s with the MD200 and my D2X are wonderful cameras but they are heavy. Not the ideal kit to tote around all day. I thought a lightweight Nikon D5000 would make a great walkaround camera. So, I ordered a refurbished one along with a lens that would zoom from 18mm to 70mm. Should be perfect, I thought.

I never knew how much I would miss my 50mm lens. My AF-D 50mm would not auto focus on the D5000, so I found myself using the D5000 less and less.

A couple of days ago another gold box arrived at Studio d'Xavier. A Nikon 50mm AF-S f/1.8 G rested inside. I put it on the D5000. Whammo! I'm infatuated all over again.

Booze and Bokeh used to be a common theme at FGR and TRP. It's also quite cliche'.
