(There's a fun fact about this photo at the end!) Anyway, I don't know if you watch my silly Instagram stories or not, but if you do, then you see what a great New Year's was like here in New Zealand. I went with a big group of friends to the Aum Festival... It's held about an hour outside of Auckland in the hills and forests of a private farm... thousands of people having fun and dancing with no masks! We don't take it for granted at all and feel very lucky to be Covid-free here, so we are doing our best to dance for the entire world. Really, when Kiwis here sit down in groups of just a few, or a few hundred, we all give thanks and gratitude for all the amazing stuff in our lives, including the ability to socialize and be human without any fear. It's the middle of summer here in NZ and the weather has been great... I think there is a different festival every week! Coming up in the next few weeks are events like Kiwiburn (the NZ Burning Man), Shipwrecked, and Splore. I don't know if I am going to any yet... still deciding, but as the poem some of you know says, old age should be burning and raving at close of day and rage rage against the dying of the light. Now, as for the Fun Fact about this photo, regarding the dying of the light, this was taken with my Pixel phone using the amazing "Night Sight" mode. Yeah, I did also bring my big-boy camera and will share some photos from Aum soon!
