Once upon a time this was a quarry which made 'Craigleith stone' that was to be the foundations of Edinburgh's grand New Town built in the late 18th and early 19th Centuries. To this day the quality of the stonework has stood the test of 200 years and it all started right here.
We're at the new shopping precinct of Craigleith, between Blackhall and Stockbridge. Many of the usual stores are to found here and Sainsbury's have recently had a complete refurbishment inside and out.
As at many new shopping areas like this Lothian create a detour for buses and here services 38 and 42 call in at the car park for shoppers to alight and board.
Lothian's latest repainted bus is seen on Service 42, Dennis Dart SLF, Plaxton Pointer SPD, number 66 (SK52 OJL) on her third day in 'Classic'.

By popular request another shot from the same session I got Eclipse 145 at a rugby Saturday earlier in February 2011. This was my first glimpse of our girls but I also had Trident 675 in my sights to photograph (ok well don't believe me then - you'd be right not to!).
You can see from this shot that the girls are positioned differently from the other photograph (see below again......go on you want to anyway) and I rather think everyone will be happy this time!
Trident 675 is operating a Part Route service to Drum Brae South, past Murrayfield, where it will circle the roundabout and return back into town.
Nice to see a 26 on a Trident which is becoming a little rare these days. Oh and there's a Charlotte lantern in the picture too....above Kylie on the right....gentlemen please! Keep your eyes steady.

It's not that this sort of thing just doesn't happen very often, it doesn't happen at all! An unusual working like this is one to run for, and it happened right on my doorstep.
In the pouring rain Volvo B7RLE Eclipse number 193 (SF55 HHC) makes a very special guest appearance on Service 36, the last one of the day and seen here at Canonmills on the way to Ocean Terminal. Just eye up that LED screen it did make me stop and stare a while.
In November 2011 we purchased two Volvo B7RLE Eclipse single deckers, but in a break with tradition both vehicles are six years old, originating from Whitelaws Coaches LTD in Stonehouse, near to Larkhall in Lanarkshire.
Lothian have 75 single decker Eclipse's (101 to 175) and after having been repainted into LB's Classic livery 'weinrot und weiss' the fleet numbers of the two new arrivals have been added to the numerical run of Dennis Darts which ends at 192. And so 193 and 194 joined the Eclipse family, and very often they're to be found on Services 12 and 21.
The two vehicles were not built to Lothian's usual specifications and while certain features are different (including ZF gearboxes) the front and rear screens were already electronic as used by Whitelaws.
I have to admit to being rather excited at spotting this, even on such a wet September evening.
