This spring has been a good one for the dickcissel. I am hearing the males' song all over the place in my area. If there is a large field, chances are one will hear its song.

Esta primavera ha resultado bien para los arroceros americanos. Oigo el canto de los machos por todos lados en mi área. Si uno está cerca de un campo grande y abierto, hay buena posibilidad de que uno oye su canto.

One of the best things about spring is the arrival of the Dickcissels. The males have such a pretty song and it just makes me feel, well, at peace sometimes. Here I caught one singing in a clump of purple thistle.

Una de las cosas de la primavera que me gusta es la llegada de los arroceros americanos. Los varones tienen un canto tan bonito, el cual me hace sentirme bien, pues, en paz. He aquí uno que pillé cantando encima de cardos.

I am almost certain that this is a female dickcissel. Well, I know it is a dickcissel, but I am just not sure if it is a juvenile or female. Being that this image was taken in spring and the males are out singing to attract the females, I am going with my female identification.
