I am not a musician but I can certainly appreciate technical greatness when I see it. Six strings is not even good enough for Animals As Leaders. Javier Reyes and Tosin Abasi prefer eight string guitars to unleash their musical onslaught. Spectacular show! For those who are not familiar with this group, the members play technical instrumental metal.

These were difficult lighting conditions. The stage was kept dark to illuminate the electronic backdrop which displayed various fractal-type images. It pushed my point and shoot to the limit. I had to process these quite a bit to remove noise and glare. None of this takes away from the brilliant execution on guitar of Tosin Abasi.

Estas imágenes se sacaron bajo condiciones de luz difíciles. El escenario se mantenía oscuro para iluminar el telón de fondo electrónico que visualizaba imágenes fractales. Esto retaba las capabilidades de mi cámara apuntar y disparar. Tuve que procesar estas fotos bastante para quitarles el ruido y el brillo. Nada de esto disminuye la ejecución maravillosa en guitarra de Tosin Abasi.

Tosin Abasi receives much of the praise for being such a guitar virtuoso, but Javier Reyes is no slouch. He impressed me immensely.

As technically awesome as Tosin Abasi is and how many different aspects of the music he is controlling, loops, effects, etc...I understand why he did not move much from his place on stage. Still, I wish he would have come closer to where I was for better photo opportunities.
