It is already this time of the year again. The apple tree in the neighbourhood orchard has turned a flaming red again. This morning, it caught a bit of soft sidelight when the sun came up and I tried to capture it.

A small waterfall with a shallow rock pool beneath it. Because of the lack of rain the waterfall is quite diminished at the moment. The intense green colour of the water is caused by algae covering the stones (it is a slippery business, taking pictures in this river…).

Männliches Knabenkraut/Early purple orchid (Orchis mascula).

I only had a wide angle lens at hand to get a picture of this orchid. Even if it does not look like it, this is a close-up shot. I was lying on the ground with barely 20 centimetres between the lens and the flower. Sometimes you have to take what you can get, even if it is not perfect.
