While editing this photo I noticed the left side of the image kinda looked like a butterfly's wings, so I thought Iโ€™d mirror the image and see how it looked. What do you think?

Hereโ€™s another shot from last night's epic northern lights display at Dunstanburgh Castle. The top of this image is almost looking directly above where I was standing, the falling pillars looked absolutely incredible!

Well last night was a bit special, wasn't it ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’š Never in my life could I imagine standing here and seeing the northern lights illuminating the sky in every direction, the colours were so vivid, even by eye, the pillars were dancing and flashing. What an amazing experience, a truly unforgettable night!

That is one absolutely colossal sunspot on the sun right now. Sunspot AR3664 has merged with another sunspot, AR3668 to form this gigantic sunspot stretching 15 times wider than Earth.
What makes this sunspot more interesting than others is its similarity to the Carrington sunspot, which caused the famous Carrington event in 1859.

The Carrington Event was the most intense geomagnetic storm in recorded history, peaking from 1โ€“2 September 1859 during solar cycle 10. It created strong auroral displays that were reported globally and caused sparking and even fires in multiple telegraph stations.
