The Stewart Farm is valued as one of Surrey's only remaining intact farm complexes from the late nineteenth century. The Pole Barn is one of the oldest and largest barns of its type in the region. It is framed with minimally worked peeled logs and features plank walls, floor boards and hand-split cedar shake roof. The raised mid-storey allows a fully loaded hay wagon to enter.

ELGIN HERITAGE PARK
Elgin is a natural and historical treasure tucked away on the banks of the Nicomekl River. The park is located along the Pacific Flyway. Thousands of birds visit Elgin Park each spring and fall, feasting and resting on the banks before continuing on their travels. The river, influenced by tides, empties twice a day and is often visited by otters, seals and a variety of shore birds. Elgin Heritage Park is also home to Barn Owls, so be sure to spot the mini-barn created for these predators of the night.
Elgin Heritage Park offers the opportunity to go back in time and discover a piece of Surrey's history while enjoying the natural beauty along the Nicomekl RIver.
Nestled in the park, the Historic Stewart Farm highlights pioneer life in the late Victorian period. Visitors can explore an 1894 farmhouse, pole bar, wood shed and root cellar to experience the life of the Stewart family who operated this once thriving hay farm.
Elgin Heritage Park offers a diverse mix of habitats including forest groves, meadows, marsh areas and tidal flats along the Nicomekl River. These habitats provide an abundance of wildlife viewing opportunities, especially birds....
HERITAGE ORCHARD - The Heritage Orchard features 27 varieties of hertitage apple, plum and pear trees.
HEIRLOOM GARDENS - These very special gardens boast varieties of flowers, vegetables and herbs that would have been planted by local farmers 100 or more years ago, many of them now very rare. A team of dedicated volunteers tends the gardens using organic methods.
Visitors are invited to stroll around the beds and enjoy the sight of pie pumpkins, carrots and Scarlet Rinner beans, heritage roses, snapgragons, calendulas and sunflowers, to name few of the plants grown here. Seeds for many of these varieties are usually available in the spring.

WARD'S PUBLIC MARINA - is a small civic marina a few miles up the Nicomekl River from Crescent Beach in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. It started as a farm, and became a marina after WWII when the Ward family added a couple of sections of float to their dock so friends could tie up there also, and gradually expanded from there. In 1985 the City of Surrey purchased Ward's Marina and the adjacent Canadian Museum of Flight and Transportation for a riverside park, now called ELGIN HERITAGE PARK, and Wards Marina became Ward's Public Marina, a civic marina operated by the City of Surrey.

Built in 1894 by Surrey pioneer John Stewart for his family, this charming restored Victorian farmhouse features a wrap-around verandah, an elegant parlour and dining room, and a wonderful warm kitchen with a working woodburning stove.
Visitors can enjoy heritage activities, crafts and woodstove baking. Costumed tour guides arre happy to escort you through this elegant home.
The Historic Stewart Farm site is a popular spot for photographers and wedding photography.
Located in Elgin Heritage Park in Surrey, British Columbia, the Historic Stewart Farm is a restored farmhouse focusing on the time period between 1890-1920. The site include a furnished farmhouse, barn with agricultural tools and machinery, a boathouse, threshing shed, root cellar and gardens and orchard. Site interpreters in Victorian costumes provide tours of the house and grounds to visitors during the year - as well the farm hosts several special events annually.
