Excerpt from the plaque:

My artistic passions have driven me for over forty years. I have always painted and drawn as a form of meditation and expression. My core visual arts practives are painting and installation. I generally work in large canvases with each piece containing a narrative or text that are blended into both the back and foregrounds. The text narratives are part of the story-telling aspect that are relevant to the thematic context of the central image or story.

My basic colour palette is derived from nature, Indigenous woodlands-styled artworks and a hint of contemporary pop culture.

Excerpt from the plaque:

Parade by Angela Aujla: This illuminated lantern is celebration of spring moving into summer. I often feature animals in my work to call attention to the importance of respecting, protecting, and creating wild spaces. The animals are inlaid with a traditional Panjabi Phulkari textile, a fold art that is used to stitch stories of community and culture.

Excerpt from mariannemeedward.ca/veteran-square-city-of-burlington-nam...:

Burlington, Ont. — Nov. 24, 2020 — The area around the Burlington Cenotaph to the north of City Hall will be named Veteran Square. The decision was made at Burlington’s City Council meeting on Nov. 23 and following a formal request from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 60.

The City of Burlington recognizes Nov. 5 to 11 as Veterans’ Week and Nov. 11 as Remembrance Day each year. The month of November is a time to honour those who have served Canada, past and present, in times of war, military conflict and peace.

The City hopes that by naming the area around the Burlington Cenotaph, it will bring further respect and reverence to this significant monument and area honouring those who gave residents their freedom and built up this country. The community is encouraged to visit Veteran Square to pay their respects and appreciation to Veterans, peace keepers and their families.

The City installed a sign with the new name, Veteran Square.
