Excerpt from Macau-World Heritage: Barra Square lies in front of the A-Ma Temple. Facing the Inner Harbour, its front part is constructed from famous Portuguese mosaid, with ochre and charcoal as the principal colours. The tiles are laid in a wavy pattern to mirror the flow of a nearby river. The overall effect is one of fluidity and gives a strong seaside flavour.

The facade of what was originally the Church of Mater Dei built in 1602, but destroyed by fire in 1835, together with St. Paul's College which stood adjacent to the church. The archaeological remains of the old College of St. Paul stand witness to what was the first western-style university in the Far East.

Excerpt from gramho.com:

There is a residential mansion called Yu-Qing-Tang 餘慶堂 (Yuqing Mansion) in the Mandarin's House, which was built by Zheng Wenrui, and the mansion boasts a horizontal inscribed board and two antithetical couplets on four columns. These also reflect on the Zheng family's philosophy of straightforwardness and uncomplicatedness, uniqueness, and doing good deeds to accumulate virtue. The horizontal inscribed board shows the mansion is named after Yuqing due to a classical Chinese book “Commentary on Words of Text (Wenyan Zhuan)”. It says in order to ensure the continuity of the next few generations, the family has to practice goodness to accumulate virtues and merits for the future generations so that the descendants of the family might have a chance to avoid calamity and sorrows.
