It was the home of Salem Eckhardt and his son Andrew, who were involved in the 1837 Upper Canada Rebellion. Group of Seven artist, F.H. Varley lived here for the last 13 years of his life.

It was the Congregational Church in 1879. It now houses the Unionville Home Society to aid the senior citizens. It was designed by E.J. Lennox, who also designed the Old City Hall, King Edward Hotel, and Casa Loma, all located in Toronto.
