The relief showed a lion devouring the head of a bull. The relief was not part of the original wall, but was placed there in the 5th century AD in order to reduce the height of the gate for better defence. The relief itself dated as early as 6th century BC.

Originally built in the 6th century AD, with three aisles separated by colonnades of columns, and the floor was covered with mosaic tiles. There was also a polygonal apse. The church was re-built during the medieval period with stone piers and a semi-circular apse. The mosaic floor was covered by flagstone.

Built in the early 6th century with mosaic floor representing Christian salvation. It was the second largest baptistry in the Eastern Roman Empire. Everything here was symbolic to the rite of baptism, with the fountain representing eternal life, and the coloured mosaic of animals, birds, and fish representing land, air, and water and therefore Christian salvation. At the entrance were two large peacocks in a vine growing from a vase. The peacocks represented paradise and immortality. The vine and vase represented Eucharist and Blood of Christ.
