The Fan Lau Fort was believed to be built in 1729, with length of 46 metres and width of 21 metres. The walls were built with granite and green tiles, and the fort was occupied by pirates until 1810 when it was taken over by the government again. It ceased operation in 1898 when the New Territories was leased to the British.

分流炮台相信是建於一七二九年，長四十六米，寬二十一米。城牆是用花崗石及青瓦造成。炮台被海盜佔領直到政府在一八一零年接管為上。最後炮台在一八九八年，於新界租借給英國後停用。

The pillars are planted in a figure of 8, representing the concept of infinity.

木柱排列成８字型，代表着無崖。

The site is a group of 36 wooden pillars engraved with Buddhist scriptures. The 260-character display contains the central Buddhist message that ‘emptiness’ is the key to happiness and an end to suffering. It describes the the Buddhist beliefs that everything is suffering; the root of suffering is desire; and the existence of Nirvana and Buddhism will lead to the paradise.

心經刻在三十六條木柱上。二百六十字的展覽代表着佛教真義的空是快樂之始及苦難之終。它描述佛教真理的萬物皆受苦難；苦難生於欲望；而佛祖及佛教是帶往永生的道路。

On each pillar, the scripture is a copy of calligraphy by Jao Tsung-I, a prominent artist.

每倏木柱的字蹟，都是出自一位出名藝術家Jao Tsung-I的手筆。
