Built in 1876 in Second Empire style, it features the mansard roof characterized by steep slope at the eaves and a gentler plane at the ridge, and dotted with dormer windows. The building was named after the Marquis of Lorne, Governor General from 1878 to 1883. The facade is symmetrical, with a wooden porch and twin bay windows.
