It was built in 1882, and used to have a grocery store and a hardware store. The transom over the main entrance still reads "15 Laing Apts". 13-19 King Street West.

13-17 King Street West was completed in 1882. Peter and Robert Laing operated a grocery store at No. 13 and leased No. 17 to clothier Thomas Staman. 19 King Street West was also built in 1882 by James Smith a hardware merchant. These buildings are excellent examples of commercial architecture of the time. Note the symmetrical unified façade of three storeys and the dominant cornice line and decorative brackets.
