This was the location of the Toronto Normal School. Built in 1852, it was the first provincial institution for the training of the elementary school teachers. Only the clock tower remains when the rest of the building was demolished in 1950. It is now the Kerr Hall of the Ryerson University, named after the first principal of the school, Howard Hillen Kerr.
