Originally built during the Northern Wei (北魏), but was converted to stones and bricks walls in the 3rd year of Hongwu during the Ming Dynasty (1370). It has walls 6.4km long and 12 metres high, and is surrounded by a moat 4 metres wide and 4 metres deep. Along the wall are 3,000 battlements and 72 watch towers. There are also 2 gates each on the east and west, and 1 gate each on the north and south.
