One of Yorkshire’s most iconic waterfalls, Janet’s Foss carries Gordale Beck over a distinctive limestone outcrop and was once used for sheep dipping. This is a six-second capture, accomplished in late summer with the aid of a polariser. Thanks for viewing.

This is the view across the Vale of York from the southern edge of Sutton Bank, captured last winter. It was actually blowing a gale across the escarpment and I was pleasantly surprised to come away with a few images that were pin-sharp in such low light. Thanks for viewing.

I don’t often take good interior shots of churches because tripods aren’t generally allowed (for a fee, sometimes) and I struggle to get a perfectly level and symmetrical frame. Here, inside the vast Anglican cathedral of Liverpool, the 10 mm lens with image stabilisation worked a treat, allowing me to capture the upper interior handheld and from a central position at a shutter speed as slow as 1/6 second. In Lightroom, I reduced the highlights in the windows and added a few vertical filters to subtly grade the colours. Thanks for looking.

A 24 second exposure of Skidby windmill, East Yorkshire, taken one night during a brief visit to my home county a few months ago. The windmill is floodlit at night and quite isolated, giving this rather striking appearance without having to post process. Thanks for viewing.

On a recent, brief trip to York, I was “granted” some photography time. I hadn’t got any spectacular images but on the walk back to the bus station this tower caught my eye: perched on a simple mound, floodlit and against the starry moonlit sky. Just enough time for one exposure before the bus left. Thanks for looking.
