Captured these golden maple trees and fallen leaves in Spencer Creek Gorge during a visit to Ontario last week to celebrate my 50th birthday. The title reflects both the proliferation of autumn colours and my state of being!

Spencer Gorge conservation area from Dundas Peak, Ontario. We missed the best autumnal colours by a week or so during a recent visit to Canada; nevertheless, there was still plenty of fall foliage around and we were fortunate with some fine weather. Thanks for viewing.

As a landscape photographer I rarely point my camera upwards but on a trip to Ontario last autumn I became fascinated by the patterns and colours in the tree canopies. This image of mixed maples and various other deciduous trees was taken on an early morning walk along the Niagara River. Processing involved reducing clarity and highlights, adjusting the hues in the green, orange and yellow channels, and minimising aberrations and fringing created by the light contrasts. Thanks for looking.

This vertiginous image was taken from the top of the CN Tower, Toronto, during an early evening visit. Conditions were quite tricky: shooting through glass, interior light reflections and a rotating floor. I ended up placing the camera on a mini-tripod on the inside window ledge with the shutter open for about 20 seconds before retrieving the gear once we and the floor had revolved a few degrees. Distortion correction and levelling didn’t leave much room for cropping and I would have preferred a squarer finish; however, I was pleased with the colours, lighting and level of detail. Thanks for viewing.

The tall, slender CN Tower in Toronto isn’t the most photogenic of structures, so I spent some time hunting down an effective point of view during a visit back in October. Eventually, I came across some colourful autumn foliage that served to frame the tower nicely. Thanks for viewing.
