Dawn over Lake Lucerne captured from a balcony in the Hotel Montana where we spent February half-term a couple of years ago. Aside from a slight crop I didn’t process the image – rather, I used a pale orange graduated filter to bring out the colours and balance the light. Now, I prefer to use neutral filtration and manipulate any colour in software. Thanks for looking.

The village of North Brentor captured from the summit of Brent Tor as the morning mist began to lift. Again, the 70-300 mm lens came in handy here, allowing me to home in on and exaggerate distinctive elements of the landscape. Thanks for looking.

This was the vista northwards from the summit of Brent Tor on a misty morning last week. I used my Sigma 70-300 mm lens to compress the layers of mist, and estimate that the most distant ridge was about 10 km away. Thanks for looking.

I captured this view across the Tamar on a calm, misty morning last year; the Brunel Bridge has since been completely obscured by scaffolding. I upped the contrast in GIMP to bring out the detail and colour but was left with an awful lot of noise in the image. This was eliminated by three rounds of noise reduction in JACS Paintshop Pro. I was quite pleased with the result and felt there was some kind of retro feel to the image. Thanks for viewing.

This image of the mixed oak and silver birch woods at Dewerstone near Shaugh Prior was taken on a misty morning back in September. Lighting conditions were tricky but I managed to achieve both contrast and detail by using an ND grad. filter. The masonry on the left is all that remains of an old forge.
