The moorland around Sheepstor, captured in all its autumn glory one morning in November. I’d have preferred more of the main tree to the right but was constrained in my pov by a high hedge. Still, I was happy with the light, sky and colour contrasts. Thanks for viewing, and Happy New Year!

This was the vista northwards from the summit of Brent Tor on a misty morning last week. I used my Sigma 70-300 mm lens to compress the layers of mist, and estimate that the most distant ridge was about 10 km away. Thanks for looking.

It’s been pretty cold in northern Europe recently (so I gather from all the recent uploads). Here’s a cool shot of my own taken a couple of years ago at Burrator Falls. A variety of weird and wonderful ice formations can be seen hanging from the branches and encrusting the mossy rocks. Thanks for viewing.

On a recent, brief trip to York, I was “granted” some photography time. I hadn’t got any spectacular images but on the walk back to the bus station this tower caught my eye: perched on a simple mound, floodlit and against the starry moonlit sky. I spotted this single poppy growing amongst some grasses in a meadow in Malta one evening back in April. The low sunlight illuminated the hairs on the stem and gave the petals a transparent appearance. Thanks for viewing.
