Large swell, generated by an Atlantic storm, break on the volcanic cliffs near La Hoya, Lanzarote. The cliffs here are over 30 feet (10 m) high. Unfortunately, there were no willing onlookers at this stage to provide a sense of scale but hopefully the volcanic peak in the background puts things into perspective. Note the emerging rainbow by the spray.
