captured on the river dart devon
amazes me how quickly these birds learn to adapt and be so self dependant after fledging the nest

although there are cuckoos on the moors giving superb views i was very surprised to see this male (although a bit distant and very skittish) at the top of mincinglake valley park in exeter,,i was actually looking for the bullfinches,,i know that years ago cuckoos could be heard at least in a lot of places, sadly not the case today though, it was an enjoyable surprise. i returned an hour later to see if i could get a better picture or two but there was no sign of it.

under the dark tree canopy with a glint of sunshine coming through, the female piedflcatcher briefly has a quick pause in between her tireless insect catching activity to keep her young brood well fed ..captured at yarner wood devon...not the perfect shot but just loved the background giving that real woodland bokeh
