Das Weibchen legt ein einzelnes, etwa 8 cm langes und 100 Gramm schweres Ei. Die eigentliche Brut dauert 43 bis 45 Tage. Das Küken wird 13 bis 14 Wochen lang mit vorverdauter Nahrung von den Eltern gefüttert. Gegen Ende der Zeit als Nestling verschlingt das Junge bereits ganze Fische.
The female lays a single, about 8 cm long and 100 gram heavy egg. The actual breeding takes 43 to 45 days. The chick is fed 13 to 14 weeks of digested food from the parents. Towards the end of the time as a nestling, the young devours already whole fish.
